Hon Car Service is a car repair business in the UK. Before the project, bookings happened by phone, which meant the front desk was always busy and customers could only book during opening hours.
Build the logic once
The website and the app both needed the same things: a service catalogue, prices, available slots and booking requests. Instead of building that twice, I put all of it in one place, a custom WordPress plugin that owns services, bookings and customer requests.
The website
The branded marketing site uses the plugin directly. Customers browse services, see prices and book a repair any time, even at midnight. The team manages everything from the WordPress dashboard they already know.
The app
The Flutter app does not have its own booking logic. It talks to the same plugin through the WordPress REST API. A booking made on the phone appears in the same dashboard, with the same rules, as one made on the website.
Why this matters for a small business
- One source of truth. Prices and services are edited once and update everywhere.
- Lower cost. New features are built in one place and both channels get them.
- Fewer surprises. The web and the app can never disagree about a booking.
The result: customers book online around the clock, and the front desk spends its time on the customers in front of it instead of the phone.
